Due to poor capacity utilization, lack of support spaces and weak floor-by-floor connectivity, it was clear that the Utah Valley Medical Center was in dire need of a re-design. In addition, the Medical Center didn’t meet current seismic standards.
Spectrum Engineers designed the campus emergency power system and the campus communication system. Spectrum Engineers also designed the main electrical gear for the emergency and normal distribution gear for the central utility plant. Other systems that were included in this design are the security system, nurse call system, structured cabling system and lighting design.
The medical center is currently undergoing a multi-phase construction to replace more than half of the building space on the current campus. The replacement project will transform the campus identity, while providing functional space to better serve the growing populous. The hospital has larger patient rooms and treatment spaces. The design features more fluid spaces for hospital services, educational & exercise spaces, and walking paths for visitors and patients to enjoy. In addition, the design adds natural light and a large pond as spaces for more natural healing.
